Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026
This policy explains what personal data Email Bounce Checker ("we", "us") processes when you use emailbouncechecker.com and the associated verification service, and the rights you have over that data. We process personal data in accordance with the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Email addresses you verify
The core of the Service is checking email addresses that you submit — individually on the website, in bulk CSV uploads, or via the API. These addresses may be personal data of third parties. We process them transiently, for the sole purpose of performing the verification: the address is checked against DNS records and the recipient mail server, a result is produced, and the address is not used for any other purpose. We never send mail to checked addresses, never add them to marketing lists, and never sell or share them with third parties. Bulk job results are retained in your account so you can download them, and are deleted when you delete the job or your account. Short-lived operational logs used for debugging and abuse prevention are automatically purged on a rolling basis.
For addresses you submit, you act as the data controller and we act as your processor; you are responsible for having a lawful basis to check them.
2. Free-tier quota tracking
The free checks on this website are limited per day. To enforce that limit we record your IP address together with a counter of checks performed. This is our legitimate interest in preventing abuse of a free service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Quota records are automatically deleted on a short rolling window and are not used for profiling or advertising.
3. Account data
If you create an account, we process your email address, password hash, credit balance and usage history to provide the Service (performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We may send you transactional emails about your account, jobs and credits; these are not marketing emails.
4. Payments
Paid credit packs are processed by Stripe. Your card details are submitted directly to Stripe and never touch our servers; we receive only a payment reference, the amount and the last four digits of the card. Stripe acts as an independent controller for payment processing — see Stripe's privacy policy for details.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use only the cookies and local storage strictly necessary to operate the site (for example, keeping you logged in to the dashboard). We do not run third-party advertising or tracking cookies on this website.
6. Retention
Verification results tied to your account are kept until you delete them or your account. IP-based quota records and operational logs are kept for short rolling windows measured in days, not months. Billing records are retained as required by tax law.
7. International transfers
Where data is transferred outside the EEA/UK, we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses with our infrastructure and payment providers.
8. Your rights
Subject to the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. If your email address was checked by one of our users and you want to know more, contact us and we will respond within the statutory timeframe.
